Eight people died on the spot, while others sustained severe injuries after an accident on the Kwapong- Nobekaw road in the Asunafo South District in Ahafo Region. Those who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Goaso Government Hospital.
According to Daily Graphic, the accident was a head-on collision involving a taxi-cab with registration number GT 7008 -X and a tipper truck registration number GC 7955-20. The accident occurred on last Thursday 30th June, 2022, at around 9:30 a.m. The taxi had 7 people while the truck 4. Unfortunately all the people in the taxi and one of the four people in the truck died on the spot. Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) team rushed to rescue the victims but 7 of them also got in an accident at Kukuom T-Junction at Goaso.
The police, The Ahafo Regional Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ekow Gaisie, confirmed the sad news to Daily Graphic. He said they arrived at the scene immediately after receiving a call and found the taxi had its roof ripped off. The police also said the taxi had 6 passengers instead of 4 as per traffic law.
