The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie has revealed that his ministry will start to sell foods to Ghanaians at low prices.
Afriyie said that the ministry will source the foodstuff direct from the farm gate to reduce the price build-up on the items.
The minister said this while in a meeting with farmers in Sefwi Wiaso in the Westrn North Region.
Sharing his statement;
We are going to link up with the farm gate so that we make all the arrangements to ensure that we put up kiosks on our compounds at the ministry, specifically for food from here, Sefwi Wiaso, and we are going to give it a lot of publicity.
According to Agric Minister, high cost of food is high because traders are greedy as they engage in excessive profiteering, hence making it difficult for Ghanaians.
He therefore believes his ministry’s plan will make foodstuffs affordable in the country.
