Aisha Huang, who is a Chinese national galamsey kingpin has once again been denied bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
She pleaded not guilty to her suspected illegal mining activities in the country.
Aisha remains in police custory while the judge, Samuel Bright Acquah has asked Judiciary to take a strong stance against galamsey.
According to Acquah, fighting illegal mining will save Ghana’s water bodies.
The judge has said Aisha and other three suspects will remain in police custody as further investigations continue.
Aisha has been accused of not only engaging in illegal mining but also engaging sales of minerals and related products without a license, which is contrary to section 99 (2) (a) of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006, Act 703 as amended by the Minerals and Mining ( Amendment) Act 2019, Act 995.
Other charges include illegal employment of foreign nationals, and entering Ghana while prohibited from re-entry.
The two charges are contrary to section 24 of the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573) and Section 20 (4) of the Immigration Act, 2000, Act 573 respectively.
