President Nana Addo has said there is no law in Ghana that criminalizes LGBTQ persons and it’s related activities.
Nana Addo said this responding to a question asked at the Jubilee House yesterday on Monday, March 27, 2023, when the US Vice President Kamala Haris called on him.
He confirmed the bill is currently before Parliament and yet to be approved by the lawmakers.
The Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bills 2021 is currently before Parliament.
The Bill proposes jail terms for people who engage in same-sex activities and various forms of the LGBTQ+community.
Sharing the President’s statement;
It hasn’t been passed, so the statement that there is legislation in Ghana to that effect is not accurate. Parliament is dealing with it and at the end of the process, I will come in.
