Gunmen kill Nigerian parliamentary candidate and his team members, burn their bodies

Tension currently in Nigeria hours to the presidential and senatorial elections as candidates conclude their campaigns.

Sadly, one of the candidates vying for a senatorial position, Oyibo Chukwu, has been shot dead together with his team members, and their bodies burnt.

The inhuman incident occurred yesterday on Wednesday 22, 2023, while they were on their way from a campaign rally in the Southern state of Enugu.

The candidate was a member of Labour Party.

So far it remains unclear who were the assailants and what their motive was for conducting such a cruel act.

Labour party is yet to comment on the development, but their presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged supporters to vote correctly, peacefully, and hopefully.

Nigeria is set to hold their election on Saturday, February 25 to elect president and senators, and this is described as one of the most competitive polls in 24 years.
