Irate youth of Diabaa in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region have set the Forestry Commission office and military base ablaze.

The incident happened after the Forestry Commission officials cut down twenty plantain crops that had been grown in the forest reserve by the local farmers.

The Chairman of the Bono Regional Security Council, Justina Owusu-Banahene told Citi News that there they are working with traditional authorities of this community to ensure the offenders are arrested.

Sharing her statement;

People have farmed within the reserve, and so we questioned the authorities on why people were farming in the forest service. The people placed lorry tyres on the road so that they will block them from entering. By the time the Police got there, they had set the forestry office ablaze and razed the office.
