A young man is currently fighting for his life at the Our Lady of Grace Hospital in the Central Region after the husband of a woman he had earlier given GHC 5 to buy food for her child butchered him and cut off his arm using a machete.
The incident happened at Brema Kuntunasi in the Breman Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District.
The suspect identified as Akwesi Amisah is also in critical condition following the alleged beatings he suffered at the hands of residents before they handed him to the police.
Amisah is receiving treatment while investigation begins.
According to reports, Amisah suspected the victim of having an affair with his wife and warned him to keep off from her.
On that bloody day, the wife visited his worksite to ask the husband money to prepare food but did not find him. She then asked the victim for GHC 5 to buy food, and he gave her GHC 20, and asked her to return the change.
The husband (Amisah) returned to the site and learnt the victim gave his wife money in his absence.
Amisah became furious and reached for a machete, and butchered the victim leaving him in a critical condition.
Well wishers rushed the victim to the hospital and the doctors report say the degree of the injuries are severe. Amisah is also at the hospital under the watch of police.
