Desperate time calls for desperate measures and this is evident as a Krobo man had to do the unimaginable to ensure his pregnant wife is well attended to at the hospital.
Krobo carried a generator to provide electricity at Somanya Polyclinic where he took his pregnant wife on the evening of Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Reports show Electricity Company of Ghana has not restored power to this area, hence Somanya Polyclinic lacks adequate light and power to attend to patients.
Both Yilo Krobo and lower Manya have been without electricity for long as a result of disagreement between them and power authorities.
The residents have been demonstrating, with their leaders calling on the ECG to provide power to the areas.
The ECG responded by saying their staffs don’t feel safe working in the affected areas because residents have opposed to prepaid meter installation.
ECG tried to replace the postpaid meters with the prepaid ones as an attempt to curb power theft in the area.
Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo are likely to continue experiencing power shortage because so far ECG has not shown any intention to restore electricity.
Hospitals, schools, and residential facilities are now depending on generators to manage the situation.
Since not everyone can afford the generators, those who have it are cashing in as they are charging people’s phones for a fee.
