A 26-year old man has attacked a pastor in church using machete for giving him a fake prophecy.
The suspect, identified as Akpannu, who is now in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command, angrily stormed a church in Lagos during service and attacked the pastor.
Reports say he stabbed Prophet Anayochukwu, who is a pastor of the New Generation Churches, in May 2023 and then went into hiding.
Akpannu was angry with the pastor for allegedly telling him during a prayer session that his only sister would die by January 2023. He said this prophecy put fear in him.
Akpannu said that another pastor had also told him another prophecy and instructed him to perform a certain spiritual cleansing using coconut and dry gin. All this did not materialize according to Akpannu.
The suspect got fed up with prophecies that never come to pass, hence decided to deal with the fake prophets by attacking Prophet Anayochukwu with a machete.
