Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Kumchacha has stated that the notion that most religious leader spend lavishly on church’s offerings and tithes is a non-starter.

While in an interview with Hitz FM in Accra, the prophet said that church leaders or pastors spend a lot of money therefore it is prudent for them to spend the tithes and offerings.

According to Prophet Kumchacha, pastors use offerings to grow church and its activities;

We spend the tithe on paying utility bills. We even allocate some of the tithe and offertory to organizing crusades, paying church workers, radio programmes and building of new offices for our churches, then we spend the rest among ourselves.

The prophet explained that some of the money they spend on themselves is for activities like fueling their cars that ferry them around to churches, TV and radio interviews, and etc.

The car I brought here wasn’t fueled with ‘zomi’ (palm oil), not sea water. It was fueled with petrol and petrol is bought with money.

Prophet Kumchacha also said that he has no other job aside doing the what the Lord called him to do. For this reason, he and other pastors surely must depend on the money collected from church members in form of offertory and tithes to take care of themselves and their families.
