President Akufo-Addo will today meet the National House of Chiefs and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
According to the Presidency report, the president’s meeting is expected to address galamsey menace and related issues, which have destroyed water bodies and forest across Ghana.
NPP top officials have recently been accused of being involved in illegal mining, a factor which forced members like the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi to dispell the allegations.
Chairman Wontumi was among the NPP members mentioned in the galamsey activities but he defended himself on Wontumi TV by saying;
I am appealing to them to use the law. They should do their investigations, and we should let the law work.
