A public toilet attendant at Assin Pantoase town, Central Region has bathed a customer of the facility with faeces following a disagreement over 50 pesewas (0.50 Ghana cedis). The attendant has been arrested by the police.
Reports say the faecal attack victim, Daniel Agyapong, had used the public toilet the previous day, and he gave the facility attendant GHC 1.
The victim was supposed to take GHC 0.50 as a change, but the attendant could not get it.
Initially, not getting a change was not an issue, and for this reason, Agyapong and the attendant agreed that since Agyapong is a regular patron of the toilet, he should leave and patronise the toilet the next day in compensation for the remaining GHC 0.50.
Agyapong returned the next day as agreed but he didn’t find the person he had an agreement with. He instead met another attendant, Kwabena Osei.
Agyapong went ahead to ease himself and attendant Osei demanded payment.
Agyapong tried to explain to Osei about the other agreement he had with the other attendant (believed to be Osei’s son) but in vain.
Osei insisted that Agyapong should pay 0.50 GHC, and this led to a serious argument until a passerby offered to pay the money on behalf of Agyapong at least to cool things down.
However, despite the passerby paying for Agyapong, the toilet attendant insisted that Agyapong must pay the amount himself.
It is at this time that the attendant reached for faeces and smeared it on Agyapong’s face, and around his mouth.
The attendant continued smearing the faecal matter on other parts of Agyapong’s body.
The victim (Agyapong) got very furious and tried to mobilise his friends to attack the toilet attendant in retaliation. Bystanders intervened to end the fight.
Agyapong rushed to the nearby police station and reported the matter.
Osei, the toilet attendant has been arrested.
