The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation and a Ablekuma West Member of Parliament (MP), Ursula Owusu, has asserted that registration exercise for SIM cards will not be extended. According to Mrs. Ursula, many people became reluctant to register their SIM cards after the first extension. The Minister has now urged people to register their SIM cards before the of July 31st 2022 because this date will not be extended.

Mr. Speaker, as soon as the deadline was extended everybody went back and sleep, hoping that the time will be extended again. I stand before this august house to assure the entire country that no time will be extended. The SIM cards registration exercise is scheduled to end 31st day of July 2022.

Also, according to Mrs. Ursula, every person should acquire Ghana Card as it is a requirement for SIM card registration. It therefore means that those who don’t have Ghana Card or haven’t registered their SIM cards have until 31st July to do so. SIM card registration aims at ensuring that every eligible SIM card is captured to produce a credible database.
