Fifteen students of St. Mary’s Girls High School at Konongo in the Ashanti Region are reportedly pregnant.
Report earlier given by United Television (UTV) news show that 4 of the pregnant students are in their final year while 10 in their second year, and 1 is in first year.
The school’s headmistress, Alice Martha Adjei has confirmed the news and lamented that it’s a difficult situation for the school.
The headmistress further said she cannot expel the students because of their pregnancy but this issue is affecting female students’ education.
Teen pregnancy is rapidly increasing in this area and respective authorities are worried that if something is not done to stop it, the future of teenagers would be in danger.
The headmistress blames grown men who are taking advantage of the young females and destroy not only their future, but also for those who look up to them for inspiration.
